Services Selection Board Interview (SSB Interviews), also known as the “Intelligence and Personality test,” is conducted by SSB Board, Ministry of Defence. Candidates clearing the first stage (CDS or NDA) undergo SSB interviews for 5 days.
This stage comprises two sub-stages.
STAGE – A
The following are included in the stage one selection process:-
- Test of Intelligence (verbal and nonverbal)
- Picture Perception and Description Test Pictures are flashed for 30 seconds. The aspirants need to note down seven essential parameters viz mood, present, future of each character per minute, age, gender, action relating to past, and total characters. Also, there are just four minutes for story writing.
- Discussion of Picture – 30 Minutes In this periods batch is divided into different groups. The strength of the group is around 15 candidates. Each candidate describes their own written story in detail. Subsequently, in Part II, all the candidates have to discuss amongst themselves and achieve a frequent consensus about the characters.
All aspirants need to undertake stage first the outcomes of stage first testing are announced. Passed candidates are commissioned for stage-II testing and those not suggested sent off back.
STAGE – B
It consists of group tasks, psychological tests, and group tests. All these three tests are performed on three successive days.

Psychological Tests for SSB Coaching in Delhi
Thematic Apperception Test: 12 images, including one blank, are shown. applicants are asked to write a story about what led to the situation? What is going on, and what the outcome would be?. In the blank slide, they must think of a picture of their own choice and write a story around it. Each Picture is shown for 30 sec, and candidates are asked to write it in 4 min
Word Association Test: In this test, 60 words are shown to the candidates for 15 seconds each. The candidate must write down the first thought or idea that comes to his mind.
Situation Reaction Test: The test consists of 60 routine life situations regarding daily activities. The circumstances are printed in a booklet, and the applicant is asked to write his reactions by completing the sentences about how they would feel, think and act in these situations.
Self Description Test: The aspirant is asked to write five distinct paragraphs on each factor regarding the thought of his teachers/superiors, parents/guardian, and friends.

Group Tests for SSB Coaching in Delhi
GTO – Day 1 The following is included in this :
Group Discussion: Social concerns and current events are two themes of interest that are explored. This is not a debate; this is just an informal discussion. Twenty minutes are allotted to each topic. No specific conclusion is needed to be concluded.
Group planning exercise: It comprises five stages, viz., explanation of the model, reading of the narrative by GTO, five minutes for self-reading by candidates, 10 minutes for individual written solutions, and 20 minutes for group discussion. The narration of the definite conclusion and group solution is needed.
Progressive group task: It is the initial outdoor chore. Load, assisting material, and Structures are given to the group. A lay of four hurdles with progressively rising obstacles is to be done in 40 to 50 minutes.
Group obstacle race: In this activity, the group is pitched against one another over six obstacles with a snake a load to carry.
Half group task: It has one problem like the progressive group task, helping to carry material and load. Group is divided into two Different two Groups and assigned the same obstacle so that when one group works, the other is not allowed to watch it. The time given to each sub-group is 15 min.
Lecturette: This is an individual task, and the applicant is required to give a short talk to the group. Three minutes are permitted to prepare any chosen topic from the four shown in the Lecturette Cards for the communication .

Group Tasks for SSB Coaching in Delhi
Individual Obstacles: A set of 10 Hurdles is tackled individually. Each individual is given three minutes. Hurdles are numbered from one to ten, denoting the points each carries.
Command Task: Each individual is nominated for one task consisting of one obstacle similar to the Progressive Group Task Time of 15 minutes.
Final Group Task: This task includes one hindrance, like the Progressive Group Task. The time provided to finalize this task is about 15 – 20 minutes.

Stage IV:
Psychological Test: Psychological tests according to the DIPR instructions are set forth to the candidates in order to evaluate their Psychological profile. Constant evaluation of the Psychological tests imparted to aspirants enables us know the faults in the approach of the candidates and conduct a course rectification. The attentive Psychological Assessment practice session enables the candidates easily endavour the exams successfully over some time.

Stage V:
GTO Tasks: Group Tasks as per the latest format is conducted under the supervision of qualified GTOs with special emphasis on oratory skills and physical aspects. Emphasis is also laid on active participation by each contributing to the team effort.

Stage VI:
Personal Interview Preparation: The third and the most important aspect of the process of SSB is the Personal Interview by the Interviewing Officer. A personal Interview is an effective evaluation and detailed assessment of the candidates at Service Selection Board (SSB) needs through preparation. We start the preparation for a Personal Interview from day one onwards by explaining various aspects of the Personal Interview and its effectiveness in judging the candidates’ personality traits and forming one of the most important tools for selecting the right candidates. We conduct one main and multiple mock Personal Interviews by qualified assessors to put the candidates at ease to face the Personal Interview successfully.

Stage VII:
Assessment of Skill Gained (ASG): Just before the culmination of the training for the SSB Interview, we carry out a thorough assessment of each candidate trained by qualified assessors to arrive at the assessment of the skills gained.
